Levi's 501 is the first male offspring of our multi-fleece champion Poseidon son, Hummingherd's Leviathan. 501's dam is a Christopher-B daughter and Hemingway is his greatgrandsire on both sides, so he is loaded with serious density and fineness genes. His phenotype does not disappoint us--his density is superior to every animal on our farm except his sire, and his fineness is exceptional as well. 501's fleece is every bit as good as his sire's and his conformation is even better, so we have extremely high hopes for this young male. His dam has a MC of 17.8 and Curvature 62.4 at six years of age, so we expect this male to keep his fineness and crimp for a long time. In his first show at SWRAS he won the blue ribbon in the juvenile white male class, and at Northwest he not only won his class but came within a whisker of winning Reserve Champion. As a yearling he has started out strong with a first in a large class, bred and owned winner, and in our winning Produce of Dam entry at SWRAS, after taking second at ABR Fall Festival. Amanda called him "the clear winner in this class" at SWRAS. Then he took a second place at IAO in the Commercial Division against four Snowmass males and three others. Judge Julio Sumar praised his fineness and suggested he might have won the class with a more ideal head type. But in the IAO Fleece Show he really showed what he's made of, beating all 11 Snowmass entries, including sons of Matrix, Best Man, Elite Legend, Overture, Quechua's Rising Son and others. 501's sire Leviathan beat Best Man in his day, and now 501 is beating his sons. Then 501 earned his first halter championship at NWAS. Our Leviathan line is competitive with the best, and Levi's 501 is the best we have.
EPD Alert! 501's Mean Curvature is the highest of all the white males in the registry, and he is in the Top Ten in AFD, Spin Fineness, %>30, and SD (Curvature). Once breeders figure this out, Levi's 501 will be in very high demand.
